JP GUITARS HISTORY
JP Guitars started long before opened my shop in Puyallup, WA and long before I
struggle to fulfill a Dream by working out of my garage. My fascination with guitars
originated as a young lad.
When I was about twelve years old, I only had an old acoustic guitar to play
with, butt had a desire to have an electric guitar and I couldn't afford one
So I decided to build my first guitar made out of plywood, wall studs and nails
for the frets off course. With just a few hand tools I copy the dimensions of my acoustic
guitar and I came out with a 335 style including the f holes, no pickups, so it turned out
to be an acoustic guitar after all, with an electric shape one. it was playable for what I
remember.
Since then I knew my calling would be to work with guitars.
Later in life I went on to study at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City'
making ends meet by giving guitar lessons on the side.
In1979 I began my career as a luthier and repairman in a local music store.
After several years of working with reputable guitar shops in Los Angeles area
and having done work for well known musicians such as Jackson Brown, Joe Satriani, Walter
Becker (Steely Dan), Howard Leese (Heart)(Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company),
Buzzy Feiten, Jerry Miller(Moby Grape), Chaz Frichtel (Michael McDonald's Band), Just to
name a few, I decided to officially star JP Guitars. My dream was coming true at last in
May of 1994 I register my business.
My inspiration for JP Guitars was driven by the demand for quality luthier work, which has
lead to our success including our own line of instruments.
